Not a good day today. Momu did not feel well and did not get out of bed. They brought poppa down to her room to sit with her which made him a bit more confused of where he was. Also last night he fell on his way to the restroom.
They both got flu shots today as well. The key is to take it a day at a time and do what you van each day to make them happy.
It sucks to get old,

Yipppeeeee - Momu got her hair done today and said it felt great! Now I think I need to work on the makeup situation, she went a bit heavy on the blue eyeshadow, but only on the right eye.
I arrived at 4:00 - both resting in the one small bed but awake. Momu asked where Samantha was - I told her she will be in CT a week from today - she had the day confused but at least remembered Samantha was coming.
I put in a DVD of home movies that Dad took when me and Mark were little (my mom had put the film onto a DVD). No sound (perfect for Momu) but w/in minutes there was alot of laughing going on. I left the DVD in the player and will watch some more tomorrow.
Dinner was served just after 5:00 pm.
I got Popa out of bed to eat dinner, enough of being in bed all day! Dinner smelled really good and they both ate pretty well. Momu got weighed again today and was up to 106. One week ago she was 104. I told her that meant she wasn't getting enough food before and she looked at me and said 'well' like she was thinking it was something else like maybe a liquid diet. In any event, she was happy and said like the food and will take whatever they give her! WOW!
The nurse on duty told me there were a few patients switching up - some leaving, some moving to different unit, etc and thought a double room would be available pretty soon. She also suggested we call the Social Services Director 2-3 times a week until they get placed into the same room.
I left around 5:45 and they were both still eating and in good spirits - well Momu was, Popa still is a bit confused. Today he asked me if it was time to go Downstairs? For the past few days he has asked to go Upstairs, hmmm - just part of the Dimentia. Just like Momu repeating the same thing to me 3-4 times in the short time I was there.
Signing off - I will say the visit was a good one today. But it still SUCKS TO GET OLD.

With our visit today we walked in to Poppa sleeping and Momu in the restroom. We have to be soft spoken when poppa is sleeping other wise he gets very startled, as he is completely unsure of where he is.
We are trying to figure where he thinks he is, as he is always asking if we are going to sleep on the fourth floor, this facility only has two floors.
We were able to video chat with Heather and Hunter which made them extremely happy. Tomorrow we are bringing over a video of Erica and Mark from Peters days with a Video Camera. The stories will be flying, but well worth the fact that the past makes them happy.
We talked about different things and of coarse family and mentioned people were coming to visit over the next week or so and Momu said " Thats fine, we will be here" I personally think she has a sense of relief knowing she can focus on herself trying to feel better instead of just poppa. She had therapy again today on her shoulder which is not getting any better, her food needs to be cut for her and her strength is just not there.
We bought some make up, upon her request and she also gets her hair done tomorrow and nails on Friday.
Basically i nice visit, but As Erica and I say every day when we leave, " IT SUCKS TO GET OLD"

Welcome to the Momu and Popa blogspot. I will be posting a few sentences to update family and friends on daily events/health/misc items based on my visit to Meadowbrook of Granby.
Phillip is home for the day and he and Dan went over to Meadowbrook for a quick visit. It was around 2:00 when they arrived. Momu and Popa were asleep, in Popa's bed. They had already eaten lunch, but Popa was still hungry. I found the list of 'foods that are available all the time' and will bring that to them later tonight. Popa asked where I was, which was at work and wanted to make sure I was coming over later.
Momu had some PT and was extremely tired - she had a beauty salon appointment today, but the hairdresser was only doing Perms, so she will get a cut, color and style tomorrow.
Dan told Momu to be happy she can focus on herself and not worry so much about Popa being fed and she agreed :)
Evening visit - just me. Got there around 6:45 and both were in bed together watching TV. I did not bring any snack but they still had cake and cookies in the room which I served to them. We watch Jeopardy. Popa did not ask what day it was but did ask where Dan was. Momu told me the same thing 3 times in the 60 min I was there. She also asked me to get her eyeshadow and makeup which I will do tomorrow. I will go before dinner tomorrow so we can play boggle and I will try and get them outside for fresh air
